Matthew Pendleton : Drawings
Aug 02 - Aug 31 2019
Matthew Pendleton challenges judgement; a pencil in his hand becomes a sorcerer’s wand, conjuring a meditation on the first known manual of Japanese gardening, the Sakuteiki (“records of garden-making”) or a never-ending dream-time journal from the Kimberley region of western Australia. Opening Reception: Fri, Aug 2, 5-7pm.

William Frej : Rituals of the Cora: Holy Week in the Sierra del Nayarit, Mexico
Aug 02 - Aug 31 2019
William Frej : The indigenous people known as “Cora” live in western Mexico’s rugged Sierra del Nayar mountains in the state of Nayarit, bounded by the states of Sinaloa and Durango to the north, Jalisco to the south. The Cora’s remote and difficult to reach location, combined with with their fierce response to Spanish conquerers explains why they retain so much of their pre-Hispanic belief system within a loose Catholic framework. Opening Reception: Fri, Aug 2, 5-7pm.
