White Out
Dec 02 - Jan 06 2022
Susan Eley Fine Art is pleased to announce White Out, a three-person exhibition featuring mixed-media monotypes on paper by Karin Bruckner, monoprints by Rachel Burgess and photorealistic charcoal drawings by Katherine Curci. White Out will be on view from December 2 through January 6 in our Upper West Side location. The Gallery will host an artist reception on Thursday, December 2, 6-8PM. Each of the artists selected for White Out characterize winter in their own distinct way. Bruckner’s layering of cool blues and delicate greys call to the limited sun and frigid weather the northern hemisphere experiences this time of year, while Burgess’ prints present and re-present the Piscataqua River and surrounding scenes in fleeting January sun or in the moments right before sunrise. Curci’s landscapes offer the silent stillness that winter often imparts, and turns leafless trees and half-moons into protagonists. White Out marks Bruckner’s seventh exhibition with SEFA, most recently: Paper Trail (2020), Winter Selects (2021) and Paint on Pointe (2021). Burgess has also enjoyed multiple group exhibitions with SEFA, including A Sense of Place (2019), AMERICANA Part I (2020) and This Land., where Curci’s work was also featured earlier this year at our Hudson, NY location. SEFA NYC is open for walk-ins Tuesday-Friday, 11AM-5PM. For questions, inquiries, or to schedule an appointment outside of Gallery hours, please contact emily@susaneleyfineart.com.
Gathering
Dec 02 - Jan 16 2022
SEFA Hudson presents a group exhibition of figurative paintings by Kathy Osborn, Ruth Shively and Bradley Wood. Composed of recent and new works, the exhibition highlights atmospheric domestic landscapes and moody interior scenes—their tone colored by the figures that inhabit and shape them. Each artist crafts their vignettes through a distinctive touch and approach: Osborn's highly-staged vintage characters; Shively's impressionistic, intimate portraits; Wood’s fantastical, cinematic architectures. Like the artists themselves—viewers become voyeurs into the social interactions and interior lives of anonymous figures. Gathering will be on view at SEFA Hudson from December 2 through January 16 in our downtown Warren Street space. The Gallery will host an artist reception on Saturday, December 4, 6-8PM. The opening reception coincides with Hudson Hall's 25th Anniversary of Winter Walk. SEFA Hudson is open Thursday-Monday, 11AM-5PM. For further information about the current exhibition or to schedule an appointment outside of Gallery hours, please contact liz@susaneleyfineart.com. * Please note that face masks are required at SEFA Hudson regardless of vaccination status.
