Pinke will perform a puppet show and music at the opening and closing receptions February 10th and February 19th at 7 pm , 2026. Exhibition Dates: February 10 - 20th, 2026 Katy Pinke is a New York–based multidisciplinary artist working across painting, drawing, sculpture, video, installation, and performance, alongside parallel practices as a singer-songwriter and actor. Using materials such as oil, acrylic, watercolor, ink, pastel, and various sculptural media, she creates layered compositions that combine abstract and linguistic marks with images of people, animals, and objects. Her work evokes dream states, alternate realities, and memories of past lives, emphasizing movement, instinct, and improvisation to challenge the separation of mind and body and to convey energy beyond words and lines. Language is central to Pinke’s visual practice, shifting between readable text and asemic forms. Through a process akin to automatic writing, she develops motifs that reference letters, numbers, and symbols, which are often partially absorbed into the composition. Influenced by calligraphy, micrography, and visionary artists such as Hilma af Klint and Sister Gertrude Morgan, she treats language as an embodied expression of emotional truth rather than a fixed narrative. Birds frequently appear in her work as quasi-mystical symbols of light, freedom, and knowledge beyond human understanding. Alongside figures, windows, waves, and stars, they function not as narrative elements but as carriers of vital energy, which Pinke seeks to transmit directly to the viewer across both her visual and performance practices.
