Oct 05 - Jan 06 2023 - 32 days left
Hostos Center for the Arts & Culture, in collaboration with the Bronx Council on the Arts, presents the 2022 edition of the New York Latin American Art Triennial at the Longwood Art Gallery @ Hostos, one of seven venues for this city-wide exhibition produced by the Bronx Hispanic Festival. The Triennial explores Abya Yala – a name used by millions of indigenous peoples to represent the entire American Continent - from Alaska in the north to Tierra del Fuego in the south. The artworks are based on this name - Abya Yala - a symbol of identity and respect for the roots of American indigenous peoples and used as starting point to explore the direct connection between the original practices inherited from our ancestors and contemporary art. Artists whose work is exhibited at Longwood are from Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, México, Perú and Puerto Rico. Artists: Alvaro G. Diaz-Rodriguez (Mexico) w/ Juan C. Salas, Enrique Botello, Aarón Guzman & Horacio González., Bel Falleiros & Renata Cruz (Brazil), Carlos Runcie Tanaka (Peru), Elvira Espejo (Bolivia), Francine Secretan (Bolivia), Franklin Graulau (Puerto Rico), Garvin Sierra (Puerto Rico), Jeannette Betancourt Díaz (Puerto Rico), Jessica Alazraki (Mexico), Katherine Patiño Miranda (Colombia), Luis González Palma (Guatemala), Oscar Azula (Colombia), Pablo Medina (Cuba), Pablo Helguera (Mexico), Ricardo Fuentealba-Fabio (Chile), Rigo Peralta (Dominican Republic), Tari Beroszi (Puerto Rico).
